Phytocide Elderberry is a natural preservative derived from the fruit of the Elderberry tree. It is an antimicrobial ingredient that protects your skincare formulations against bacteria, fungus, mould and yeast growth. It is oil soluble and heat stable up to 75°C and works best within a pH range of 3 and 9.
Unlike most other preservative options, Phytocide Elderberry is dual function. It not only protects your product from microbial growth, but also provides active skin benefits. It is rich in antioxidants, contributing to the anti-ageing action of a cream, and has a mild anti-inflammatory effect.
Common Uses:
Phytocide Elderberry is an oil soluble liquid, so is not suitable for use in water based sprays. It performs best in creams, lotions, serums, body butters, gels and haircare products where oil-based ingredients are present.

Recommended Usage: 1-5%. It is commonly paired with Leucidal Liquid to create a strong natural preserving system, protecting against a wide range of microbes.
